It was some sixteen years ago , when I went onto the Morrab Committee, that I first met Jenny Scanlon – then and for many years the Library's Honorary Librarian.. The thought and quiet wisdom that she brought to that role were deeply impressive, and she was, just as clearly,, someone of rich experience, with a fund of memories. Her serene and unfailing politeness seemed to model a whole civilization, yet its underlying concern for others made it clear that this was more than just an artefact. This was Jenny. Looking back now, I'm surprised in one sense by how little I came to know of her – and there was clearly much to be known. But with Jenny Scanlon, you could be certain that what you saw was what you got. And that was an abundance for all who knew her. Nick Round
